We are working with a publicly listed real estate developer and builder with extensive operations in Texas. The company oversees the full development process, from land acquisition and planning through design, construction, and delivery, ensuring efficiency, quality, and control at every phase.
We are seeking a Jr. Accountant to manage core construction accounting functions for the single-family home construction division. This role focuses primarily on Accounts Payable (AP), job costing, construction draws, and assisting with month-end close. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has a strong understanding of accounting principles as applied to construction projects.
This is a full-time, on-site rolebased in Houston, Texas.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable, including invoice coding, approvals, check runs, and maintaining accurate records.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with intercompany entries.
- Manage subcontractor pay apps and construction draws, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Handle job cost allocations, project reconciliations, and prepare Actual vs. Budget reports.
- Assist with month-end close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Support audits and respond to financial statement requests.
- Collaborate closely with project management and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain records in QuickBooks Online and Excel, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal processes.
Requirements
- MUST: minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or residential development
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Hands-on experience with AP, bank reconciliations, payroll, job costing, subcontractor pay apps, and construction draws
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
