Construction Controller – Houston, TX
A growing construction group is seeking a hands-on Construction Controller to join its Houston operations.
This is a newly created role with direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape financial operations across diverse residential projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project accounting and monthly reporting across luxury villas, multi-family, and single-family developments
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and support broader group reporting
- Partner with leadership to deliver accurate financial insights and project tracking
- Oversee and support a team of bookkeepers, an estimator, and an admin
- Utilize systems like Procore and Sage Construction Management, while contributing to process improvements
MUSTs
- Proven construction accounting experience in the U.S.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP reporting
- Controller-level capability — plug-and-play, hands-on professional
- Ability to work onsite in Houston, 5 days per week (flexible hours)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Candidate Advantages
- Experience managing financials for mid-sized construction projects (luxury, multi-family, single-family)
- Familiarity with Procore, Sage Construction Management, or similar systems
- Track record of working with subcontractors and project managers to improve reporting accuracy
- Capacity to bring process improvements and system upgrades from previous roles
- CPA qualification
