The engineer will interface directly with clients, engage in technical discussions, and review/approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. This position requires strong technical problem-solving abilities and a thorough understanding of industry design standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and review PD&P design activities within a small design team for medium-sized projects.
- Produce drawings, models, and design documentation in alignment with project scope, including earthwork, drainage, road design, foundations, and steel detailing.
- Ensure all piping and plant design work complies with relevant installation codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Interface with PD&P engineers, designers, specialists, and drafters to coordinate daily technical work.
- Communicate complex technical issues clearly and provide recommended solutions to senior leadership.
- Lead and facilitate technical discussions with clients, suppliers, regulators, and other external stakeholders.
- Prepare or oversee PD&P design estimates, work plans, project schedules, and budget adherence.
- Contribute to development of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, and Standard Applications.
- Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approvals as required.
- Review major PD&P engineering drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.
- Provide mentoring and on-the-job guidance to PD&P designers and drafters to support professional growth.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in engineering or a related field and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 8 years of piping and plant design experience.
- Proficiency with Revit and Navisworks; strong working knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques.
- Experience developing and managing BIM models following LOD 100–500 specifications for Plant Design and Piping.
- Demonstrated experience with 3D modeling of complex piping systems, pipe supports, and mechanical equipment for large industrial manufacturing facilities (e.g., semiconductor fabs, data centers).
- Experience with modularization, off-site manufacturing (OSM), and modular piping design.
- Strong understanding of multi-discipline coordination and global 3D model integration.
- Ability to interpret and work with drawings and documents created by other engineering groups.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Willingness to travel and/or relocate for project support as required.
- Part-time hybrid telework (remote work permitted within Houston area), with required onsite presence at the company’s Houston office.
