The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing carrier relationships, booking shipments, and ensuring efficient, cost-effective logistics solutions for customers.
What You Get To Do
- Create and manage freight orders in the Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Maintain accurate carrier data, including billing, rates, routing, and fuel plans.
- Source and book cost-effective carriers to optimize capacity and service.
- Troubleshoot TMS issues and provide system support to internal teams and customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and shippers.
- Track shipments, communicate delays or changes, and resolve issues proactively.
- Support freight claims (OS&D) and assist with electronic onboarding of carriers.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Assist in pricing, reporting, and ongoing logistics process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Requires 5–7 years of relevant experience, ideally in the food industry and logistics (inbound/outbound). Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to read and interpret business documents and regulations, write reports, and present to various audiences.
- Proficient in basic business math including percentages, proportions, and discounts.
- Able to handle practical problems and interpret diverse instructions with minimal guidance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint), internet applications, and Transportation Management or logistics platforms.
