Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the unit nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
- Take vital signs, blood glucose readings, and monitor intake/output and records patient information accurately.
- Assist with mobility and positioning of patients to prevent pressure ulcers and promote comfort.
- Monitor and report changes in patients’ conditions to the nursing team promptly.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment to ensure safety and infection control.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to meet patient care goals.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program and maintain current certification as a CNA by the State of Missouri
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or preapproved provider.
- Previous experience in the Medical/Surgical or similar setting preferred.
Position Summary:
The Nurse Tech/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Medical/Surgical department is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care services, within the scope of practice, under the supervision of the unit nurses/House Supervisor and the direction of the Director. The nurse tech/CNA must adhere to the hospital’s policies and procedures, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
