About The Role
Live Oak Healthcare and Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable and compassionate Transportation Driver to join our team. In this role, you will safely transport residents to and from appointments while ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being. This position goes beyond driving—you will provide hands-on assistance and serve as a key liaison between residents, medical providers, and facility staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport residents to and from medical appointments and outings
- Operate wheelchair-accessible vans and 10–14 passenger shuttle buses
- Perform daily vehicle safety inspections prior to operation
- Ensure all passengers are properly secured, including seatbelts and wheelchair tie-downs
- Assist residents with entering and exiting vehicles, including wheelchair transfers
- Provide attentive care and support to residents during transport, following their plan of care
- Communicate effectively with residents regarding transportation schedules and needs
- Serve as a liaison between medical providers and nursing staff; relay documentation and updates after appointments
- Prepare residents for appointments (appropriate clothing, required documents, labs, etc.)
- Monitor and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental condition
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of assigned vehicles
- Report accidents, incidents, or maintenance concerns immediately
- Follow all DOT regulations and facility safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies
- Assist residents with meals and nourishment when appointments overlap with mealtimes
- Demonstrate respect for resident rights, preferences, and dignity at all times
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record (MVR)
- CNA License required
- Previous experience transporting passengers and/or working in a long-term care setting preferred
- Ability to safely assist residents with mobility and transfers
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
