Alliance Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Worker to ensure the safety, comfort, and functionality of our facility. The ideal candidate will oversee repairs, upkeep, and maintenance of building systems—providing a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with NJ Department of Health (DOH), OSHA, and local safety regulations.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete work orders in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and facility walkthroughs to identify and address potential hazards.
- Assist with fire safety drills and maintain emergency systems, including fire alarms, generators, and exit lighting.
- Support infection control by maintaining HVAC filters and ensuring all areas meet sanitation standards.
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping duties as needed.
- Collaborate with and assist outside contractors during scheduled maintenance, inspections, or renovations.
- Maintain safe outdoor walkways and grounds, including snow and ice removal when necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
- Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with NJ Department of Health regulations for nursing home facilities preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully with elderly residents.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
- Basic computer skills for work order tracking and maintenance reporting.
- Certification in HVAC, electrical, or building maintenance.
- Knowledge of CMS, OSHA, and NJ DOH regulations for long-term care facilities.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
