This dual-role position is essential to maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting employee relations, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels to deliver high-quality resident care.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Functions:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions and HR-related matters
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, including DOH, DOL, and Homeland Security/Immigration
- Conduct background checks and manage onboarding processes
- Maintain HR/Payroll systems and manage the Applicant Tracking System
- Oversee employee terminations and performance review processes
- Monitor employee performance, attendance, and address disciplinary matters
- Manage recruitment efforts, including job postings, scheduling interviews, and hiring
- Prepare and maintain employee files, ensuring all required documentation is complete
- Assist Regional HR Director with special projects and research initiatives
- Promote a positive workplace culture and employee morale
- Participate in quarterly QA meetings and report employee-related concerns to Administration
- Monitor facility staffing needs and communicate shortages to leadership
- Develop and manage monthly nursing schedules to ensure proper coverage
- Coordinate staffing adjustments with the Director of Nursing (DON)
- Track attendance, tardiness, and absenteeism; report concerns to DON
- Maintain records of employee certifications and licenses
- Assist employees with scheduling, timecards, and leave requests
- Ensure new hires are prepared for orientation (IDs, timecards, schedules)
- Respond to staffing calls and coordinate coverage as needed
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to resolve staffing challenges
- Maintain up-to-date contact lists for resident care staff
- Prepare reports and recommendations regarding staffing issues
- Process weekly payroll for Nursing and Administrative departments
- Minimum 2 years of staffing experience required
- Nursing home experience preferred
- Knowledge of SBV required
- Familiarity with HR systems, payroll platforms, and scheduling software
- Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and compliance standards
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
