Responsibilities
- Prepare meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes.
- Prepare food for therapeutic diets and special diet orders.
- Ensure meals are palatable, appetizing, and served on time.
- Follow established portion-control procedures.
- Prepare and provide bedtime snacks.
- Ensure residents receive the appropriate utensils and equipment with their meal trays.
- Prepare approved substitute meals for residents who refuse menu items.
- Assist with meal service and food preparation for special events and parties.
- Make only authorized food substitutions.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and organization of food service areas.
- Properly care for and maintain kitchen supplies and equipment.
- Follow established food preparation and sanitation procedures.
- Previous cooking experience preferred, particularly in a healthcare, nursing home, or institutional setting.
- Ability to prepare a variety of foods in large quantities.
- Ability to understand and communicate in English.
- Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when needed.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
- Willingness to learn and implement new food service methods and practices.
