Mayfair Care Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing – Risk Manager to support our Director of Nursing in overseeing daily operations of the nursing department. This role ensures high-quality care for residents while maintaining compliance with all regulatory guidelines and facility standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating nursing operations.
- Develop, maintain, and update nursing policies and procedures.
- Ensure nursing reference materials (PDRs, regulations, standards of practice) are current.
- Provide written and oral reports or recommendations regarding department operations.
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services for seamless care.
- Ensure nursing personnel adhere to job descriptions and participate in staff education.
- Contribute to quality assurance programs and participate in government inspections and surveys.
- Assist in resident discharge planning and care coordination.
- Perform administrative duties, including documentation, reports, and charting.
- Monitor Quality Improvement (QI) and Quality Management (QM) reports; provide actionable recommendations.
- Participate in committees, including the Quality Assurance Committee.
- Delegate authority to RNs, LPNs, and Nurse Supervisors as appropriate.
- Conduct daily rounds to ensure compliance with nursing standards.
- Review and report complaints or grievances and ensure fair administration of disciplinary actions.
- Facilitate new resident admissions and ensure rooms are prepared.
- Support attending physicians in timely documentation of progress notes and orders.
- Oversee nursing care delivery, including medication administration and treatment schedules.
- Develop and conduct staff in-service training and orientation programs.
- Provide leadership training and guidance to nursing supervisors and staff.
- Assist in developing safety standards and recommend departmental equipment and supply needs.
- Monitor MDS planning, scheduling, and implementation of RAPs and Triggers.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and report all allegations of resident abuse or property misappropriation.
- Valid, unencumbered RN license.
- Nursing degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in risk management in a skilled nursing facility (SNF).
- Strong risk management skills.
- Self-starter and team-oriented.
- Survey experience preferred.
- UM/Educator with risk experience considered.
- PRI and IP certification a plus, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathetic and professional in all interactions with residents, families, and staff.
- Demonstrates integrity, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor under all circumstances.
