Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, preferences, and care plans.
- Offer meaningful opportunities for group participation and individualized engagement.
- Coordinate entertainment, special events, community partnerships, and recreational outings.
- Arrange transportation for appropriate off-site activities and medical needs.
- Supervise, train, and support activities staff while promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Manage the department budget, supplies, and staffing needs.
- Maintain accurate activity records, required reports, and care plan documentation.
- Review and update departmental policies, procedures, and job descriptions annually or as needed.
- Collaborate with the Administrator, Activities Consultant, and interdisciplinary team to improve programming and resident engagement.
- Partner with Nursing, Therapy, Dietary, and Social Services to incorporate meaningful activities into residents’ daily routines.
- Ensure activities services comply with applicable regulations, facility policies, and professional standards.
- Eligible for certification as an Activities Professional through a recognized accrediting body or meets applicable state-specific requirements.
- Previous experience in a nursing home, skilled nursing facility, assisted living community, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and support a team with patience, enthusiasm, and creativity.
- Compassionate, professional approach to working with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Knowledge of activity services requirements in long-term care settings.
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
