JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a Junior Environment, Energy & Regulatory Coordinator to join our Environmental, Energy, and Regulatory team. This role is well suited for individuals looking to develop hands-on experience in maritime environmental compliance, emissions reporting, and energy efficiency planning initiatives.
In this role, you will support the Manager, Environment, Energy & Regulatory with data collection, monitoring, reporting, system administration, and coordination activities. You will work closely with vessel teams, shore‑based operations, and technical teams, while receiving on‑the‑job training and guidance.
This is a contract, temporary role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following activities:
Environmental Monitoring & Reporting
- Support the collection and review of environmental and operational data, including fuel consumption, emissions, waste, water, ballast, and sewage data.
- Assist in preparing routine environmental and emissions reports and help identify data gaps or inconsistencies.
- Coordinate with vessel and shore‑based teams to ensure timely and accurate data submission.
- Help track environmental KPIs and flag trends or issues for further review by senior team members.
Energy Efficiency & Decarbonization Support
- Assist in reviewing vessel performance data to help identify basic energy efficiency opportunities.
- Support the implementation of energy‑saving and decarbonization initiatives across the fleet.
- Collaborate with vessel crews and shore teams to promote fuel‑efficient and environmentally responsible practices.
- Participate in sustainability and continuous‑improvement projects as part of the wider decarbonization roadmap.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Support compliance activities related to IMO DCS, EU MRV, FuelEU Maritime, and other applicable environmental regulations.
- Assist with maintaining and updating vessel environmental plans such as SEEMP, EU MRV plans, FuelEU plans, Garbage Management, Ballast Water Management, IHM, and SOPEP.
- Help prepare documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews under supervision.
- Stay informed about regulatory updates with guidance from the manager and senior team members.
Data Management & Systems Support
- Support the day‑to‑day use of StormGeo’s s‑Insight tool, including data entry, validation, and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist in performing data plausibility checks and escalating discrepancies for review.
- Help maintain accurate records and support simple trend analysis and reporting activities.
- Coordinate with IT, technical teams, and vendors to help resolve system or data issues.
Training & Collaboration
- Provide user support for vessel and shore‑based teams on environmental reporting tools and processes.
- Help communicate environmental requirements and best practices in a clear and practical manner.
- Work collaboratively with technical, operational, and compliance teams to support shared goals.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy, Maritime Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Some experience in a maritime, environmental, energy, or technical support role.
- Basic understanding of environmental regulations and emissions reporting (training will be provided).
- Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and reporting tools; experience with environmental platforms is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to follow structured processes.
