This role is designed for individuals with 6–8 years of experience in audit at a Big 4 accounting firm who have developed strong analytical, leadership, and technical accounting skills and want to apply them in a more dynamic, transaction-focused environment.
The Assistant Vice President will play a key role in executing financial due diligence engagements, leading junior team members, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of client deliverables. This position is heavily execution-focused, offering exposure to deal environments without requiring prior transaction experience or business development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Execution
- Lead and manage the day-to-day execution of buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence projects.
- Analyze financial statements to assess quality of earnings, working capital trends, and key financial drivers.
- Identify potential risks, anomalies, and key accounting adjustments that impact deal value and structure.
- Prepare and review detailed workpapers and financial analyses for client deliverables.
- Support Vice Presidents and Directors in synthesizing findings into clear, concise reports and presentations.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and mentor analysts and associates, overseeing workload and reviewing deliverables.
- Promote technical accuracy, consistency, and professional development within the team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across engagements to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Engage with client finance teams to obtain data and clarify accounting matters.
Process & Quality Improvement
- Apply audit discipline to enhance diligence processes and strengthen analytical rigor.
- Utilize data analytics and visualization tools (Power BI, Alteryx, Excel) to streamline reporting and analysis.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and consistency across engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- 5-7 years of experience in public accounting, with at least 4 years at a Big 4 firm (Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG).
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI or Alteryx preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly.
- Highly motivated to transition into transaction advisory and develop expertise in financial diligence.
