GN&C Systems Engineer

We’re looking for a talented Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) Systems Engineer to help develop advanced autonomous navigation and control systems for next-generation robotic vehicles operating in extreme environments. You’ll work at the intersection of autonomy, robotics, and space systems, designing and verifying high-reliability software that enables vehicles to operate safely and independently in challenging conditions.

We’re looking for a talented Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) Systems Engineer to help develop advanced autonomous navigation and control systems for next-generation robotic vehicles operating in extreme environments. You’ll work at the intersection of autonomy, robotics, and space systems, designing and verifying high-reliability software that enables vehicles to operate safely and independently in challenging conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with technical leads to define and document navigation, control, and decision-making algorithms for autonomous systems.
- Contribute to systems engineering processes including requirements development, interface definition, and verification & validation (V&V).
- Participate in design reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation such as ICDs and V&V plans.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and avionics teams to integrate and optimize autonomy software with hardware systems.
- Analyze data to improve performance and reliability under diverse environmental conditions.
- Support hardware-in-the-loop simulations and field testing.
- Implement process improvements to streamline robotics and software development.
- Ensure systems meet rigorous safety, reliability, and performance standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience developing autonomy or GN&C software for robotic or aerospace systems.
- Proficiency in C and Python.
- Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Hands-on experience integrating software with sensors, actuators, or embedded systems.
- U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident).
- Master’s or Ph.D. in robotics, autonomy, or control systems.
- Experience with autonomous systems in space or other unstructured environments.
- Knowledge of GPU acceleration, FPGA integration, or real-time operating systems.
- Familiarity with standards such as MISRA or DO-178B.
- Experience with SLAM, POMDPs, or other advanced planning and decision-making frameworks.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
