Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities and developmental challenges. This role involves creating an inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic growth, social skills, and emotional well-being for all students. The Special Education Teacher will collaborate with parents, staff, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.

Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide direct instruction in core subjects such as literacy, math, and physical education.
  • Support students in developing social skills and emotional regulation through behavioral therapy techniques.
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Monitor student progress through standardized testing and ongoing assessments.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom culture that respects diversity and promotes acceptance among peers.

Skills

  • Strong classroom management skills to create a structured learning environment.
  • Experience in curriculum development tailored for special education needs.
  • Knowledge of speech therapy techniques and early intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with deaf education practices and resources.
  • Proficiency in using learning technology to enhance educational experiences.
  • Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those with developmental disabilities.
  • Background in childhood development principles and behavioral health strategies.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to design lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, and physical activities.
  • Experience in early childhood education or preschool settings is preferred.
  • Understanding of IEP processes and requirements for special education services.
