What are the responsibilities and job description for the AI Specialist position at Everlast Brands?
DESCRIPTION
Turn AI from a tool we talk about into the way our companies run: find the manual work inside Flood & Fire Solutions, Dry It Center, and Flat Rate Metal, and replace it with workflows, integrations, and agents reliable enough to run real customer facing operations, and documented well enough to outlive you.
Everlast Brands is the family office behind Flood & Fire Solutions (restoration), Dry It Center (equipment retail and rental), and Flat Rate Metal (roofing manufacturing).
Founder led. Part of the Everlast Brands family of companies, growing fast and on track to 5x in the next two years.

What you'll be measured on (top performers hit these):
- Automations shipped and alive: at least one new AI workflow deployed into a real business process every month, and everything already shipped keeps running; you own the uptime of what you build
- Hours returned to the business: manual work measurably automated away across the companies, tracked and reported weekly; 20 or more hours per week of human work eliminated by month six
- Loud failures, never silent ones: monitoring on every deployed workflow; zero automation failures that reach a customer without an alert reaching us first
- Real adoption: 80% or more of deployed workflows still in weekly use 90 days after launch; a workflow the team quietly abandons counts as a failure, not a ship
- Documentation that survives you: every workflow documented well enough that someone else could run, fix, or turn it off while you are on vacation
- Intern leverage: runs the AI intern program: scopes student projects, reviews weekly, and turns student output into shipped work without the CEO in the loop
What the week looks like: shadowing the office's billing morning to find the friction, building an agent that drafts the invoice packet, wiring an alert onto last month's dispatch automation, reviewing the intern's rental check in bot, and demoing the week's build to the CEO. You find the manual work, kill it, and keep it dead.
Who thrives here:
- Can show, not tell: a portfolio of automations you built that real people still use
- Comfortable across the stack: APIs, webhooks, spreadsheets, scripts, low code tools, and AI models, whatever kills the manual work fastest
- Talks to non technical operators and turns their complaints into working specs
- Pragmatic: boring and reliable beats clever and fragile, every time
- Writes documentation people actually read
- Wants to mentor students and multiply through them
This is a high accountability seat: the outcomes above are the job, not the bonus. Our process includes a short paid build project, so you will be paid to show us, not just tell us. If being measured on shipped, surviving automations excites you instead of scaring you, apply.
