Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Preventionist/Wound Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will lead efforts to prevent and control infections across various care settings, including acute care, assisted living, and specialized trauma centers. Your expertise will ensure the safety and well-being of patients by implementing evidence-based infection control practices, managing wound care protocols, and promoting a culture of safety. The Infection Prevention/Wound Specialist is a dual-role leadership position responsible for both direct clinical oversight and the coordination of our Infection Prevention and Control Program. This role is for the individual that has a strong leadership mentality and is self-directed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical oversight and support to nursing staff
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies
- Promote high standards of resident-centered care
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to staff
- Oversee and manage the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program
- EMR Documentation
- Conduct daily infection control audits and surveillance activities
- Perform infection tracking, trending, and data analysis
- Prepare and present routine infection control reports
- Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, and state guidelines
- Lead outbreak investigations and implement mitigation strategies
- Provide hands-on education and ongoing staff training
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote best practices
Qualifications
- Active Licensed Nurse (RN preferred; LPN considered with appropriate experience) in the State of Indiana
- Infection Prevention Certification (IP, CIC, or equivalent) required
- Long-term care experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of infection surveillance, data analysis, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent communication, teaching, and mentoring abilities
- Ability to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities effectively
