Overview
A well-established law firm specializing in healthcare law and trial practice is seeking a skilled Litigation Paralegal to join its Seattle office. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil litigation, with exposure to medical malpractice, personal injury, and insurance defense matters. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of two days onsite per week, with occasional additional in-office days based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare legal documents under attorney supervision, including discovery requests, witness disclosures, exhibits, jury demands, stipulations, authorizations, and subpoenas.
- Review and analyze medical records; prepare detailed medical chronologies.
- Support case management by handling incoming discovery, organizing records, and managing document production.
- Coordinate case schedules, calendaring, and trial preparation with attorneys, legal assistants, and trial teams.
- Assist with expert witness research and retention.
- Conduct legal and medical research, including background checks, licensing, and certifications.
- Ensure secure handling and management of sensitive medical records in compliance with firm procedures.
- Track and record billable and non-billable time accurately.
- Provide trial support; overtime may be required during trial preparation and proceedings.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 3 years of paralegal experience; litigation experience required.
- Experience in medical malpractice, personal injury, or insurance defense preferred.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and case management.
- Proven ability to create detailed medical chronologies.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred (or equivalent experience).
