Job Position: Fire Protection Project Engineer
Location: Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Summary:
The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for delivering complete project designs for medium-complexity projects with minimal supervision. This includes fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, life safety systems, and code compliance evaluations. The role requires a deep understanding of local and national fire protection codes, and the ability to produce code-compliant, effective, and constructible designs while coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, including but not limited to NFPA 1, 10, 13, 14, 17A, 20, 24, 25, 30, 45, 72, 75, 80, 90A, 92B, 96, 99, 101, 110, 220, and 2001.
- Perform technical reviews of life safety and fire protection systems.
- Conduct engineering studies and prepare written reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Perform engineering calculations, including hydraulic, seismic, voltage drop, and battery calculations.
- Develop system design layouts for fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and special hazard systems.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and perform jobsite observations.
- Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
- Utilize software including Revit, Auto SPRINK, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Relevant engineering experience.
- Proven ability to perform all outlined duties independently and satisfactorily.
- Strong analytical, technical, communication and organizational skills.
