Associate, Communications (New York)

Eurasia Group is the leading independent global political risk and research consulting firm. We’re looking for a talented (digital) communications associate to join the Office of the President. We are a close-knit team looking for a creative and collaborative colleague who shares our passion for global politics.

Your primary responsibilities are running Eurasia Group’s social media channels; managing the Eurasia Group website; assisting colleagues with their social media presence; and supporting the communications team with media engagement and outreach as well as external and internal communications projects. In this position, you will have frequent communication with the company’s senior management, research analysts and external journalists around the world.

You will edit Eurasia Group’s website, drawing from content we have published externally or created specifically for the website, working closely with our analysts and editors. You are flexible and enthusiastic about working with different content formats—you may work with analysts on short-form articles, conceive/shoot/edit short videos, draft press releases, and project-manage the publication of occasional large-scale thought-leadership features in coordination with external partners. In addition, you will provide communications support to GZERO Media—a Eurasia Group subsidiary—and help with client and public events, including Eurasia Group’s GZERO Summits.   

Overall, you will manage the content schedule for Eurasia Group’s social media feeds and website, upload content, and help ensure that the website is up to date and accurate. You have an editorial eye for photo selection, writing headlines, and article placement. You are fluent in social media, can engage responsibly on our behalf, and proactively develop new ways of engaging with audiences. You understand social media and website metrics and will develop data-informed strategies for the website and audience engagement.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of two years of relevant experience
• BA/BS in journalism, political science, international affairs, public relations or other relevant field
• Passion for global politics and international affairs
• Experience developing digital content and growing a social media audience, including an understanding of best practices around publishing for the web and social promotion, experience running paid social campaigns, and understanding of SEO
• Experience in media relations
• Data-driven: experience using analytics and applying findings from them to content decisions
• Exceptional organizational skills, a strong sense of attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• Strong emotional and cultural intelligence, relationship management skills, and an enthusiasm for working with diverse organizations and people
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter, and be able to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team
