Food Service Worker
Euola, is seeking a Food Service Worker to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Portland, Oregon
Duties and Responsibilities
Food Service Workers are expected to demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with patients, particularly during meal tray delivery and pickup. All team members should communicate kindly and respectfully with patients and colleagues and maintain a professional, courteous demeanor at all times.
Food Service Workers must be able to:
- Perform a variety of tasks including food assembly, tray delivery, and dishwashing.
- Complete cold food preparation and assemble food/menu items such as nourishments, entrees, meats, starches, vegetables, breads, salads, desserts, beverages, condiments, tray ware, and serving utensils.
- Accurately place specified items on trays as indicated on patient diet cards and menus, following established portion guidelines.
- Deliver meal trays to patient wards and the Community Living Center (CLC) dining room on campus.
- Break down, clean, and restock the tray line after tray service.
- Carry out dish-room tasks including scraping trays, sorting, stacking, and racking tray ware for loading into the dish machine, and removing clean tray ware from the machine.
- Return clean pots and pans to designated storage areas.
- Empty kitchen trash receptacles and transport waste to the outside receptacle near the receiving dock.
- Assist the Wage Grade-4 (WG-4) Food Service Worker in the ingredient control room and properly store food deliveries and supplies in walk-in refrigerators/freezers and dry storage areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental needs.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be US Citizen
- Good customer service and food service experience
