Monday – Friday 2nd Shift (1pm – 9pm)
Description:
- This position is in the Precision Genomics Detection team. The candidates will be working collaboratively with a large production team of full-time employees (FTE) and contractors to deliver daily and weekly genotyping targets under tight deadlines. Responsibilities include a variety of manual and automated tasks in the setup laboratories.
- Taqman PCR Lab: The candidate will primarily be responsible for manual/semi-automated PCR setup. This workflow supports the biotech and trait pipelines. Responsibilities also include activities related to preventative and autonomous maintenance and lab health activities. The candidate may also have the opportunity to cross-train in our Library Creation space that helps support accelerated breeding program.
Desired skills for the ideal candidate:
- Demonstrate reliability: This is a business-critical position to keep our lab running 5 days a week across multiple shifts. The candidate must be a reliable presence on this shift. Position may require flexible or off shift hours during peak times.
- High Throughput/production/sample management: Our labs process millions of samples per year with fast turn-around times. Any experience handling a large number of samples daily (lab, etc.), or in a fast-paced environment (retail, food service, etc.) is a plus. Experience with LIMS or automation is a plus.
- Automation/mechanical aptitude: The candidate must be comfortable running and troubleshooting automation independently. Biologists with engineering/technical/mechanical aptitudes are encouraged to apply.g
• What is a day like in this role?
Performs laboratory technical tasks. Responsible for the operation, care and maintenance of automation and other laboratory equipment. Daily responsibilities include sample set up, maintenance, troubleshooting, and some experimental design. Will be expected to effectively communicate with team members who work on site and some who may work from home.
• What 3-5 responsibilities will occupy their time?
Processing samples through production workflows by operation of manual and automated lab equipment, utilization of LIMS systems for sample tracking, maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and automation.

Flexibility, agility, attention to detail, strong work ethic, sense of urgency, excellent communication skills, good organizational skills, ability to make decisions independently. Candidates with experience in fast-paced settings (even non-lab related; i.e. restaurants/ retail/ shipping) are usually high performers on our team.
