About the Role:

The EDM Operator plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) to produce precision metal parts according to detailed specifications. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure that components meet exact tolerances and quality standards. The operator will be responsible for setting up, programming, and maintaining EDM equipment, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise during production. Collaboration with engineering and quality assurance teams is essential to optimize machining processes and improve product outcomes. Ultimately, the EDM Operator contributes to the efficiency and accuracy of manufacturing operations, supporting the delivery of high-quality products to clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating EDM machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of CNC programming and machining processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or formal training in EDM operation or CNC machining.
  • Experience with wire EDM and sinker EDM machines.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programming purposes.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and material properties relevant to EDM machining.
  • Previous experience working in a quality-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) to manufacture precision parts based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Program EDM machines using CNC controls and adjust parameters to optimize machining performance.
  • Monitor machining processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and make necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of EDM equipment to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report any deviations or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company policies during machine operation.

The EDM Operator utilizes technical skills daily to set up and program machines accurately, ensuring parts are produced within tight tolerances. Analytical skills are essential for troubleshooting machine issues and optimizing machining parameters to improve efficiency and quality. Strong communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineering and quality teams to address production challenges.
