Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Azure API Lead to design, develop, and manage enterprise-grade API solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure API Management (APIM), microservices architecture, and integration patterns, with the ability to lead development teams and drive API strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of RESTful APIs and microservices on Azure
- Architect and implement solutions using Azure API Management (APIM)
- Define API standards, governance, security policies, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate APIs with enterprise systems
- Design scalable and secure API solutions leveraging Azure services (App Services, Functions, Logic Apps)
- Implement API security including OAuth2, JWT, Azure AD authentication
- Monitor API performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for scalability and reliability
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews for development teams
- Ensure CI/CD pipelines for API deployments using Azure DevOps
- Document API architecture, design specifications, and usage guidelines
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8–10 years of IT experience with strong focus on API development and integration
- Hands-on experience with Azure API Management (APIM)
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and API lifecycle management
- Experience with Azure services such as App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps
- Proficiency in .NET / C# or Node.js for API development
- Experience implementing API security (OAuth2, JWT, Azure AD)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture and distributed systems
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with API gateways, service mesh, or containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging (Service Bus, Event Grid)
- Exposure to OpenAPI/Swagger documentation standards
- Prior experience in a lead or architect role
