Job Description
Erie Strayer is looking for a 2nd Shift Fitter to join our manufacturing team in Erie, PA!
In this hands-on role, you'll help fabricate and assemble structural steel components used in our heavy industrial equipment. We're looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with steel, and takes pride in producing quality work.
You'll work alongside experienced fitters while developing your skills in structural fitting, fabrication, and welding.
What You'll Do
- Fit, align, and tack-weld structural steel components, including plates, beams, gussets, and clips.
- Perform cutting, grinding, drilling, and material preparation.
- Read and follow fabrication drawings, measurements, and work instructions.
- Operate shop equipment, including saws, drills, and grinders.
- Safely move and position materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality.
- Work closely with other team members to keep production moving safely and efficiently.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in structural steel fabrication, fitting, welding, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read or learn to interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Familiarity with basic shop tools, measuring equipment, and fabrication processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop additional fitting and fabrication skills.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on manufacturing position that involves standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and working around industrial equipment. Employees must be able to perform the essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, and follow all required safety procedures.
