About the Role:
The Pipe Fitter plays a crucial role in the shipbuilding & repair industry by ensuring the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems. Such as fuel, water, oil, waste, steam and other marine systems. You should understand fitting both welded and threaded pipe as well as pvc and copper. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with other trades and departments to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. Ultimately, the Pipe Fitter contributes significantly to the overall quality and reliability of the products manufactured by the company.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program in pipe fitting or a related field.
- At least 1-2 years of shipyard experience or industrial work.
- At least 1-2 years of experience as a pipe fitter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specialized piping materials such as PVC, copper, or stainless steel.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and practices (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW.)
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools (wrenches, impact guns, drills, grinders, etc.)
- Experience with the use of a cutting torch.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of piping systems.
- Install, repair, and maintain piping systems, including valves, fittings, and fixtures.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing all tasks.
- Ability to follow directions, work with others, and work in less-than-ideal conditions (cold, heights, small spaces.)
