About the Role:
As a Pipe Welder, you will play a crucial role in the shipbuilding & repair industry by ensuring the integrity and quality of welded pipe systems. You will work alongside a Pipe Fitter to weld pipe joints and make repairs on steel pipe of varying sizes and follow a variety of welding procedures. You will be responsible for interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to execute precise welding tasks that meet industry standards. This position requires a strong commitment to safety protocols and quality assurance, as your work directly impacts the performance of the final product. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass a 6G E6010 open root and E7018 fill and cap test on 2" and 6" sch 40 pipe.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in shipyard work or industrial work.
- At least 1-2 years of experience as a pipe welder.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to read and understand piping drawings and schematics.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and practices in welding.
- Ability to follow directions, work with others, and work in less-then-ideal conditions (cold, heights, small spaces.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in specialized welding techniques.
- Experience with automated welding equipment.
- Knowledge of different types of metals and their welding properties.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools (wrenches, impact guns, drills. grinders, etc.)
- Welding Experience (SMAW, FCAW)
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality welding on various types of pipes using techniques such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Interpret and analyze blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements.
- Conduct inspections of welded joints to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
