Job Summary
The Temporary Project Engineer supports the execution of capital projects within a manufacturing plant environment, assisting with planning, coordination, and implementation of infrastructure-related initiatives. This role works closely with plant leadership, engineering teams, and external vendors to manage project activities, update layouts, and support capital investment documentation. The position is designed to provide additional engineering support during a period of increased project volume and is well-suited for an early-career engineer seeking hands-on experience in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Support execution of capital projects, including scope development, planning, and implementation activities.
- Develop, review, and update technical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to support project execution.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain quotes, timelines, and project-related information.
- Assist with preparation and documentation of capital project requests and approvals.
- Participate in site walks, equipment layout planning, and installation activities.
- Track project progress and maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
- Ensure projects align with safety standards and operational requirements.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, including Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for layout development and design updates.
- Basic knowledge of plant infrastructure systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
- Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable interacting with vendors, operators, machinists, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
Work Experience
- Internship or early-career experience in manufacturing, plant engineering, or capital projects preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD and project coordination is beneficial.
