Extrusion Operator Lead

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Extrusion Operator Leader to support and guide tubing extrusion operations within a regulated manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys running extrusion lines, troubleshooting processes, and supporting a team while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and productivity.
This position plays a key role in ensuring consistent production of high-quality extruded products used in critical applications, including regulated and clean manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day extrusion operations, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot extrusion equipment, including die changes, line adjustments, temperature controls, speeds, and tension settings.
- Provide hands-on guidance, training, and support to extrusion operators; help prioritize workflow and daily production activities.
- Monitor in-process quality, perform inspections, and make real-time adjustments to maintain product specifications.
- Ensure compliance with documented procedures, quality systems, and applicable regulatory standards (e.g., cGMP, ISO).
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and process documentation.
- Partner with Engineering and Maintenance to resolve equipment issues and support continuous process improvements.
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment while enforcing safety policies and best practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or manufacturing training preferred.
- Prior experience in plastic extrusion operations, ideally tubing extrusion.
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such as medical devices, bioprocessing, pharmaceutical, or similar industries preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
- Previous experience in a lead, senior operator, or mentoring role on the production floor.
- Strong attention to detail, quality mindset, and commitment to safety.
- Ability to read work instructions, basic drawings, and use measurement tools.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and production tracking.
Preferred Experience
- Medical-grade or cleanroom extrusion experience
- Knowledge of extrusion dies, polymers, and process controls
- Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or ERP tools
