What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Lab Manager position at eos Products?
Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to manage the laboratory and testing activities in the Technical Packaging Lab for components and finished goods. They will work in collaboration with the Packaging Engineers and alongside the Quality department and collaborate with Quality for incoming inspections and non conformance management. The Technical Packaging Lab Manager is responsible to oversee and perform technical validations for a variety of packaging projects across multiple formats as well as maintain lab equipment. Management of outsourced testing is also part of this scope. The primary project work typically will include new packaging growth programs, troubleshooting and quality improvements. The incumbent will have contact with the internal packaging team as well as material suppliers and contract manufacturers. The position will be stationed in the NJ office with visits to the NY office on an as need basis.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical packaging lab and manage at least 1 direct report
- Collaborate with Quality team to problem solve and troubleshoot when deviations occur in production
- Conduct packaging component testing to validate new launch items
- Work as liaison between the Packaging Team in NY and the R&D/Quality Team in NJ
- Develop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends within the packaging discipline
- Collaborate with Packaging on the creation of packaging component and finished good testing protocols to be utilized for internal testing and exported to external suppliers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Technical field
- 7 years lab experience in packaging component testing, ideally in Beauty and/or CPG environment
- Ability and willingness to learn new technical areas leveraging internal and external resources
- Strong organizational and communication skills
