What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Technician position at EOM?
SUMMARY:
Performs repairs and maintenance of lift stations, pump stations, and collection systems, and construction work on wastewater treatment and distribution systems of various municipalities; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to wastewater distribution and treatment.
Work is performed under direct supervision (Operator II), general supervision (Operator I), under the direction of the Department Manager/Lead Operator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assists in operating pump stations and lift stations; maintains compliance with relevant federal and state laws.
- Operate heavy machinery to facilitate lift-station repairs, cleaning, replacement, system expansion, and efforts to improve system reliability.
- Responsible for the repair and/or replacement of pumps, controls, and devices at pump and lift stations.
- Maintains daily log and record of pump run times and station conditions.
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment; greases and oils equipment to include pumps, generators, and control equipment.
- Performs routine cleaning of equipment and work areas; cuts grass as needed.
- Perform troubleshooting work at lift stations and pump stations.
- Perform emergency on-call stand-by operator/technician duties on a weekly rotating schedule.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of records.
- Suggest safety guidelines and operational programs.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of lift stations and telemetry systems.
- Monitor preventative maintenance schedules and computer systems.
- Oversight of the day-to-day operation of all lift stations and pump stations.
- Work on call day and night in inclement weather conditions; perform emergency standby duties on a rotating basis.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
