Hazardous Waste Management Specialist Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct site assessments to identify and classify hazardous waste materials
- Develop and implement plans for the safe transportation, treatment, and disposal of hazardous waste materials
- Ensure that all hazardous waste management activities are conducted in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Prepare and maintain detailed records and documentation of hazardous waste management activities
- Provide training and guidance to staff and contractors on safe handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials
- Conduct regular audits of hazardous waste management processes and procedures to identify and address areas for improvement
- Represent the company in interactions with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
- Stay current with new developments and advancements in hazardous waste management technology and best practices

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or similar certification
- Experience with hazardous waste management software and databases
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of hazardous waste treatment technologies
- Experience in emergency response and incident management
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in hazardous waste management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidential information and handle sensitive material with care
