Mechanical Design Engineer – Heavy Vehicle Systems
Location: Onsite
Pay Rate: $30–$40/hr
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of heavy-duty vehicle components and systems. This role will focus on creating functional, reliable, and cost-effective mechanical designs while supporting new and existing vehicle platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on engineering experience, strong CAD skills, and exposure to electro-mechanical systems, testing, and product development.
Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, and develop mechanical components and systems for heavy-duty vehicle applications.
- Perform engineering analysis and support redesign efforts for existing and new vehicle platforms.
- Provide vehicle and component integration support throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and engineering documentation.
- Apply root-cause problem-solving methodologies to identify and resolve design issues.
- Support product testing, validation activities, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure designs are functional, reliable, and cost-effective.
- Develop technical documentation, reports, and engineering specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
- Internship experience or 6 months of related engineering work experience required.
- Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-duty vehicle equipment and related systems.
- Experience using high-level CAD systems for 3D design and modeling.
- Experience with mechanical design and product development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Creo and/or CATIA (open to candidates with other advanced 3D CAD experience).
- Windchill experience.
- Background in electro-mechanical system integration.
- Hands-on experience with product testing, test labs, or hardware-in-the-loop environments.
- Familiarity with data acquisition tools and post-processing techniques.
- Strong technical writing skills and experience creating engineering documentation.
- Experience applying structured problem-solving/root-cause analysis methods.
