Overview
We are actively seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a full time position in St. Louis, MO. This role designs, develops, and validates mechanical products and equipment for automotive service applications using CAD, testing, and manufacturing principles.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop new products for automotive service applications
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings in Creo or comparable CAD software
- Design mechanisms, sheet metal parts, weldments, machined components, castings, and plastic parts
- Integrate hydraulic, sensing, electronic, and mechanical components into complete systems
- Select materials, purchased components, and manufacturing processes
- Perform tolerance analysis and apply GD&T to engineering drawings
- Validate product concepts through engineering analysis and physical testing
- Design test fixtures, prototypes, and special instrumentation
- Evaluate product performance against project scope and functional requirements
- Diagnose design issues and implement corrective design changes
- Support prototype fabrication, product testing, and design verification
- Coordinate engineering deliverables with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and other technical groups
- Maintain product design documentation, test results, and engineering revisions
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Five or more years of machine design experience
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software
- Experience designing mechanisms and integrated mechanical systems
- Experience designing sheet metal components and weldments
- Experience designing machined metal parts
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Proficiency with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Experience selecting materials, components, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to design parts and assemblies that meet functional and project requirements
- Ability to work onsite in the St. Louis area or relocate
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with Creo
- Experience with other parametric CAD platforms
- Experience designing castings, plastic components, sensors, and electronic enclosures
- Experience with system integration
- Experience developing test fixtures and specialized instrumentation
- Experience conducting engineering analysis and product validation testing
- Experience supporting patent development or patented product designs
- Automotive, automotive service equipment, or vehicle-related product experience
