Overview:
We are seeking a skilled
Mechanical Engineering Technician
to support prototype development and transition to production. This role involves hands-on assembly, testing, and certification of high-precision machines, as well as providing feedback to improve designs and processes. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with motion control systems, and a passion for building innovative products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review prototype designs, models, and engineering drawings.
- Assemble, test, and certify prototypes for performance and reliability.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggest design improvements to engineering teams.
- Document assembly and certification processes for future reference.
- Lead the transition from prototype to production through written documentation and hands-on training.
- Perform cable reviews and simple manual machining as needed.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the supervisor regarding job progress.
- Occasionally travel locally for field support (rare).
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
and
2 years of related production experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Associate degree in a related discipline strongly preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience building
linear motion stages
. - Hands-on experience with
linear or rotary electro-mechanical actuators
. - Basic understanding of
torque application
and
Loctite usage
. - Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of
machine design, motion control, metal fabrication, and finishing
. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; basic understanding of
GD&T
. - Experience assembling
high-precision machines
for prototyping and high-volume production. - Familiarity with
NPD/NPI (New Product Development/Introduction)
processes.
