CNC Process Engineer / CNC Programmer
Location: Woburn, MA
Focus: 5‑Axis CNC Milling (Mastercam) | Aerospace Manufacturing
Swiss Programming Experience: Strong Plus (Star and Citizen machines)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Process Engineer / CNC Programmer to support our growing aerospace manufacturing operation in Woburn, MA. While we support both Swiss and Milling processes, our greatest immediate need is for 5‑axis CNC Milling programming using Mastercam.
This role is critical in developing efficient, high‑quality machining processes from quote through production and requires hands‑on collaboration with machinists, inspection, manufacturing, and sales teams. Aerospace experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and troubleshoot CNC programs for new part startups using Mastercam Swiss programming experience using PartMaker is a significant plus
- Swiss machines include Star and Citizen
- Develop complete machining processes, including:
- Quoting support
- Workholding and fixturing concepts
- Tooling selection
- Primary and secondary operations
- Collaborate closely with machinists to improve existing processes and support new product development
- Work with Inspection to ensure compliance with quality and aerospace requirements
- Review and interpret customer drawings and 3D models; create and modify solid models and supporting documentation
- Interface directly with customers to clarify designs, resolve manufacturability issues, and optimize processes
- Partner with vendors to source tooling, materials, equipment, and outside services
- Demonstrate knowledge of secondary processes such as:
- Anodizing
- Chromate
- Heat treat
- Grinding
- Provide technical support to the Sales team to help secure new business and implement new services
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong expertise in 5‑axis CNC milling programming using Mastercam
- MUST HAVE aerospace manufacturing experience
- Experience with mill‑turn and complex part processing
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
- Strong understanding of machining strategies, GD&T, and tight‑tolerance work
- Solid communication skills for customer, vendor, and internal collaboration

Education & Experience
One of the following is required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
OR
- Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Technology with 5 years of process engineering experience in a machine shop
OR
- 10 years of CNC process engineering/programming experience in a machine shop environment
Technical & Computer Skills
- Proficiency with:
- Mastercam (required)
- SolidWorks or similar CAD software
- PartMaker (Swiss programming – highly preferred)
- Working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- CAD/CAM programming systems
- Strong mathematical skills including geometry and trigonometry
