Laboratory Technician II/III – IHS (Northern Cheyenne Service Unit)

Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician II/III supports clinical laboratory operations by performing diagnostic testing, specimen collection, and analysis. This role ensures accurate and timely lab results while maintaining compliance with federal and clinical standards within an IHS facility.
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (shift assigned by Laboratory Supervisor)
- Closed on federal holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing in areas such as:
- Hematology
- Clinical chemistry
- Urinalysis
- Microbiology
- Serology
- Collect specimens using venipuncture and capillary methods
- Prepare and process samples (blood, urine, stool, etc.)
- Operate laboratory equipment (centrifuges, analyzers, microscopes)
- Review and verify test results for accuracy
- Perform quality control, calibration, and maintenance
- Maintain accurate documentation and patient records
- Support overall laboratory workflow and operations
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
- Certification meeting CLIA requirements (preferred)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Experience Required
- Lab Technician II: 2–4 years of experience
- Lab Technician III: 4–6 years of experience
- Experience in hospital or clinical lab setting preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment and procedures
- Good communication and patient interaction skills
- Ability to handle diverse patient populations (newborn to elderly)
Pay: $68.00 - $73.00 per hour
