Position Type: Contract – Non-Personal Service
Schedule: Hospitals require 24/7 coverage; outpatient clinics Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays.
Position Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) performs laboratory testing and specimen collection to support diagnostic and clinical care at the Crow Service Unit (CSU), Lodge Grass Clinic, and Pryor Clinic. The CLS ensures accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory services across all major clinical laboratory areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform, update, and review Quality Control, Calibrations, and Maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Collect blood specimens using arterial puncture, venipuncture, or capillary methods; prepare patients for other specimen types (urine, stool).
- Process and analyze clinical specimens using diagnostic laboratory equipment (analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges).
- Review, verify, and report laboratory results.
- Maintain proficiency in clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, serology, urinalysis, microbiology, and molecular testing.
- Document all procedures and results accurately, complying with HIPAA and professional standards.
- Coordinate with laboratory supervisors for schedules, staffing, and coverage plans.
- Participate in staff competency assessments, orientation, and ongoing training as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent).
- 5–7 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Phlebotomy proficiency required.
- Familiarity with IHS systems such as RPMS or VistA.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary healthcare environment.
Pay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
