What You Will Do
- Lead safety culture and engagement by acting as a visible safety ambassador across all levels, advancing the organization toward safety leadership and interdependence, and translating learning into field‑ready improvements.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk control by championing hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementation of robust controls—particularly for serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention and high‑risk activities.
- Integrate safety into business operations by providing high‑quality, practical safety support to office, field, and industrial operations, and partnering with leaders to embed safety requirements into day‑to‑day work.
- Maintain strong field presence and contractor oversight to reinforce safe work practices, validate controls, build trust, and ensure contractor compliance with Enbridge requirements, including qualification, prequalification, and operating standards.
- Drive safety performance and accountability by monitoring key performance indicators, converting data into actionable insights, leading corrective actions, and coaching leaders, supervisors, and contractors to achieve sustained results.
- Lead and develop safety capability by managing and developing a high‑performing safety team, forecasting resources and program needs, participating in industry committees, and continuously improving efficiency and effectiveness within budget.
- Bachelor’s degree. Preferably in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial Hygiene.
- 10 years of directly related professional work experience in the Health & Safety field. For candidates who do not possess a university degree, an additional 3-years of related experience is required (total of 13 years).
- Strong collaboration and client‑focused support skills, with the ability to work effectively within teams and partner with leaders, employees, and contractors to deliver practical safety solutions.
- Solid working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, codes, and standards, capable of interpret and apply requirements in operational and field environments.
- Proven ability to translate strategy into execution, balancing big‑picture thinking with day‑to‑day implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of safety programs.
- Results‑driven with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple demands and providing timely, risk‑based recommendations.
- Highly effective communication, facilitation, and influencing capabilities, combined with a commitment to continuous learning, field mobility (valid driver’s license), and availability for on‑call support as required.
- Office environment with regular travel up to 25% to field sites within North Carolina.
