We have a Marine Terminal Operator position available! In this role you will play an important part in the safe transport of product from storage tanks to marine vessels. What You Will Do

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient cargo transfer operation of the marine docks and related shore equipment.
  • Performs marine petroleum terminal activities concerned with delivery of petroleum products to tankers, barges, or ships.
  • Review vessel relevant data as well as cargo manifest to plan work activities around quantity and type of products being delivered.
  • Maintain log of readings, lab results, shift production requirements and equipment issues to record daily activity and provide for adequate shift relief.
  • Perform operations and troubleshooting on equipment related to terminal functions and mooring operations including vapor compressors, pumps, valves, automated equipment, etc.
  • Conduct routine operating inspections of the unit, troubleshoot operational problems, and respond to area emergencies or to changing operational situations.
  • Perform connecting of oil transfer hoses, lining up of valves to load products into vessels tanks.
  • Manually regulate or shut down equipment during emergencies, as directed by supervisory personnel.
  • Notifies supervision, maintenance, engineering, and other auxiliary personnel to correct equipment malfunctions and troubleshoot process issues as needed.
  • Issue work permits to ensure the safe performance of maintenance activities and other work in area of responsibility.
  • Initiate work requests, perform minor maintenance within capabilities and prepare equipment for maintenance.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance work such as locking out equipment, preparing permits and verifying equipment.
  • Participate on the Emergency Response Team as needed.
  • Assumes accountability for meeting plant safety goals and various other requirements including training, work permits, critical items inspections, job observations, housekeeping, reporting hazards and issues, and working safely in job assignments.
  • Actively participates in EIEC’s, Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security (HESS) programs to ensure a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
  • Perform relief coverage of all other areas of qualification as needed

Who You Are

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years relevant work experience (e.g. production, loading, or unit maintenance)
  • Proficiency in mechanical reasoning with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a rotating shift; weekends; holidays; overtime; and respond to callouts
  • Ability and willingness to serve as member of Emergency Response Team
  • Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
  • Must successfully obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) as required by the Transportation Security Administration at the start of employment.
  • 1 years’ experience with marine loading of hydrocarbons or chemicals onto barges or ships preferred.
  • Process Technology Degree preferred.

Working Conditions

Primarily field oriented, with specific office duties for training, meetings, documentation of required tasks as required by the US Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies for which Enbridge must comply. Must be willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts as required to support the operation. Must be willing to respond to emergencies that may require working shifts longer than 12 hours for several consecutive days.

Physical Working Conditions

Include but are not limited to: Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
