What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at EnableSA (Pty) Ltd?
Our client is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join the Port Elizabeth team,
- Bookkeeping up to Trial Balance for at least 8 entities
- Prepare monthly
Management Accounts and supporting schedules
- Process supplier
invoices accurately and timeously
- Process monthly Point
of Sale (POS) reports and reconciliations
- Process cashbooks and
perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Process salary
journals and related payroll accounting entries
- Process accounting
journals, including accruals, provisions, depreciation, and other month-end
adjustments
- Manage and process
creditor payments
- Complete and submit
credit applications as required
- Maintain and reconcile
the fixed asset register
- Manage the full
debtors function, including invoicing, allocations, collections, and
reconciliations
- Monitor stock count
variances and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare VAT
reconciliations and submissions
- Prepare and submit
PAYE and other statutory returns
- Reconcile control
accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Assist with month-end
and year-end closing processes
- Ensure accurate
record-keeping and maintenance of financial documentation
- Liaise with auditors
and provide supporting documentation during audits
- Ensure compliance with
internal controls, company policies, and relevant financial legislation
- Manage multiple
entities and meet reporting deadlines independently
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Certificate, Diploma,
or Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years'
relevant bookkeeping experience
- Previous experience in
an Accounting Firm will be advantageous
- Proven experience with
bookkeeping to Trial Balance and Management Accounts
- Experience with VAT
and PAYE submissions
- Strong reconciliation
experience, including Bank reconciliations, Debtors reconciliations, Control
account reconciliations
- Experience with
journal processing, including Accruals, Provisions and Depreciation journals
- Experience working in
a multi-store, retail, or high-volume transaction environment
- Proficient in
accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Intermediate to
Advanced Excel skills
- Solid understanding of
accounting principles, financial regulations, and statutory compliance
