Job description:
Seeking COMPANION AND SUPPORT STAFF to provide one-on-one support up to 20 hours per week to an adult male with a mild disability utilizing DDA Self-Directed Services to ensure he has the support he needs to engage in the community as independently as possible. Hours may be flexible each week based on agreement with family, if hired. General shift hours will be after 3pm Monday through Friday, and anytime on Saturdays and Sundays. Potential for growth to full-time hours over the next year. Please note: You will be an employee of the individual and paid through an external entity. You will NOT be an employee of Empowered Independence, LLC.
This position provides person-centered support in social skills, safety, community access, and overall development and contribution to the person’s well-being.
You will assist the person with:
· Maximizing independence by assisting and providing personal support
· Accessing various social, emotional, and physical skills needed to engage in recreation and community opportunities
· Engaging in meaningful activities throughout the day
· Providing personal assistance as necessary, including assistance with going to the barber, shopping for clothes, going to the market, etc.
Qualifications:
· Associate Degree or some college required; or certification in a related field is a plus
· Must pass a federal and state background check
· Valid Driver's License, car insurance, and reliable transportation
· Valid CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
· Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred, but will train the right candidate
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and team members

Pay: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour
