What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Empowered Independence, LLC?
Seeking DIRECT SUPPORT STAFF to provide one-on-one support up to 40 hours per week to an adult female with cerebral palsy utilizing DDA Self-Directed Services to ensure she has the support she needs to complete all daily tasks and engage in the community. Typical shift hours will Sunday through Thursday, between 10am and 10pm. Please note: You will be an employee of the individual and paid through an external entity. You will NOT be an employee of Empowered Independence, LLC.
This position provides person-centered support in daily tasks like feeding, dressing, transferring, bathing, etc., socialization and companionship, community access, and overall development and contribution to the person’s well-being.
You will assist the person with:
· Maximizing independence by assisting and providing personal support
· Accessing various social, emotional, and physical skills needed to engage in recreation and community opportunities
· Engaging in meaningful activities throughout the day
· Providing personal assistance to complete activities of daily living (ADLs)
· Accessing the community utilizing a wheelchair accessible van provided by participant
Qualifications:
· GED/High School Diploma
· Must pass a federal and state background check
· Valid Driver's License, car insurance, and reliable transportation to get to and from work
· Valid CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
· Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred, but will train the right candidate
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and team members
