Business Development Rep (BDR) – Partnerships

Empower Sleep
Los Angeles, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/23/2026

Orange County, CA preferred • remote open for the right person

If you've done SDR work before, you know the drill: same script, same list, same rejection on repeat until you start hating your life a little. We built this role to be the opposite of that.

Empower Sleep's been building real momentum for years, and the opportunity in front of us right now is bigger than our current team can fully capture. We need a hunter — someone who's going to get on the phone and turn that opportunity into real partnerships across longevity clinics, concierge and cash-based medical practices, care navigation companies, and eventually payers and brokers too.

You'll work directly with our Head of Partnerships, who'll get you up to speed quickly on our ICP, our pitch, and our playbook — you're not walking in blind. From there, we want someone who can run with it: picking up the phone, testing different approaches, learning quickly, and figuring things out without needing constant direction. The relationships you build and the meetings you set are what drive our growth — not just a number on a dashboard.

Some days look different than others, and that variety is part of what makes this role interesting. Some calls are pure cold outreach to a clinic that's never heard our name. Others are relationships we've already got a foot in — maybe we're already working with one part of a group's locations and you're setting up the meetings to get us in front of the rest, or a partner who used to send us referrals has gone quiet and you're the one getting them back on the phone so we can figure out why and rebuild the relationship. Different situations call for different plays, and we'll help you learn the moves — multithreading, reading a room, knowing when to push and when to nurture — but you've got to bring the instinct to know when and how to apply them instead of relying on the same script every time.

Intent matters a lot to us. We want you targeting practices with real potential to bring sleep solutions into what they offer — not burning through lists without understanding whether there's a real opportunity. That said, intent isn't always obvious on the first call — sometimes it takes real conversation, education, and follow-through to find out if someone's actually a fit. Part of the job is knowing the difference between a lead worth nurturing and one that's genuinely a dead end, and having the patience and skill to tell them apart.

You should love the phone, not just tolerate it — if your idea of a good day is hiding behind an auto-dialer and cruising through calls on autopilot, this isn't your role. Sound like a human having a conversation rather than someone reading off a card. Scrappy, adaptable, sharp on the phone and in your follow up emails, comfortable in a fast-moving startup — that's the DNA we're looking for. Sold into healthcare, wellness, or medical practices before? Even better.

Location: we'd love someone local to Orange County. There's real value in occasionally getting face time with prospective and existing partners — stopping by a clinic in person builds the kind of relationship that's hard to fully replicate over the phone. That said, we're open to the right remote candidate too, as long as your track record shows you can create results without constant oversight. Either way, the phone is where the bulk of the growth happens, and that's where this role really lives.

As we continue growing, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility over time for the right person. We're looking for someone who wants to be part of building something meaningful.

If this sounds like the BDR/SDR role you've been hoping existed, let's talk.
