Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of HVAC and process piping systems for commercial and industrial projects
- Develop comprehensive engineering documentation including calculations, P&IDs, equipment selections, and installation details
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and performance requirements including ASHRAE guidelines
- Collaborate closely with preconstruction, estimating, project management, and field teams to align design intent with execution
- Evaluate existing building systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, performance, and reliability
- Drive engineering input into project proposals, ensuring alignment with budget, feasibility, and client objectives
- Serve as a technical resource to resolve complex design and construction challenges during project execution
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and timeliness
- Communicate design intent clearly to clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to the advancement of engineering standards, processes, and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Five to seven years of experience in HVAC system design and mechanical engineering within MEP or mechanical contracting environments
- Demonstrated expertise in designing HVAC systems and process piping for commercial and industrial facilities
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical system design and documentation
- Experience developing full engineering documentation including calculations, P&IDs, and equipment selections
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts across diverse stakeholders
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, HVAC Designer licensure, or progress toward licensure preferred
- Experience collaborating with construction teams including estimators, project managers, and field personnel preferred
- Familiarity with LEED principles and energy-efficient system design preferred
