Community Relations Specialist and Liaison Department:Community RelationsReports To:Community Engagement & Agency Impact DirectorPay Grade:210Supervises:NoneFLSA Classification:ExemptApproved By:Community Engagement & Agency Impact DirectorRevision Date:4/28/25 JOB PURPOSE: This Community Relations Specialist and Liaison functions as a member of the Community Relations team and will be responsible for providing leadership with organizational and strategic support through assistance on community outreach. This position will also be responsible for representing the Employ Milwaukee as the liaison to satellite offices located through the Milwaukee community. The Community Relations Specialist is encouraged to use their experience and creativity to effectively implement the goals of this position. This position receives direction from and reports to the Community Engagement and Agency Impact Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the outreach initiatives of the organization as determined by leadership.Serve as the official representative at Employ Milwaukee satellite offices and community events.Works with the Director to research, develop, implement, and plan community outreach activities to advance the mission and goals of the company.Deliver presentations and distribute materials on Employ Milwaukee programs, services, and initiatives.Network with other community groups and professionalsParticipate and present at outreach presentation opportunities at local community events.Seek out opportunities for community outreach and partnerships, including fee-based programming.Schedules meetings on behalf of the Community Engagement and Agency Impact DirectorPerform administrative duties including but not limited to data entry, reporting spreadsheets, drafting correspondence, maintaining, and returning phone messages.Promote programs such as Flex-ride and other workforce resources.Travel to various locations throughout the dayOther duties as assignedAn individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NonePage Break KEY ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: Strong written communication skills with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, ability to crate spread sheets.Strong oral communication skills with the ability to speak effectively, present information in public and respond to questions from various groups of managers, clients and/or customers.Ability to work cross-departmentallyAbility to read and interpret detailed and technical documents that pertained to a variety of workforce development programs.Ability to compile and analyze information and formulate recommendations.Ability to provide technical information and assistance on workforce development programs.Ability to design forms to record pertinent information and systems.Ability to use various community resources for outreach, research, and dissemination of information.Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as program manuals, operations plans, technical procedure manuals, various state and federal government regulations, professional journals, and general business-related periodicals and/or journals.Professional business attire MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience: Associates degree, certificate comparable in communication, public relations, marketing, human services, or related field. 2 years of experience in workforce development, project management, human/social services, or related field. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.Technology/Equipment: Experience using Microsoft Office, team’s social media platforms, participant data tracking systems such as Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), and Outlook and other.Licenses/ Certificates: Wisconsin Driver’s LicenseOther: Required Wisconsin car insurance, Reliable transportationResidence: Residence of the City of Milwaukee is required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing, human services or related field and 2-5 years of experience.Licenses/Certificates: Trauma Informed Care certification and Motivational Interviewing certification preferred.Technology/Equipment: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, participant data tracking systems including Efforts to Outcomes (ETO).Languages: Bi-Lingual in the Spanish Language preferred PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a commuter.Page BreakAbility to be on their feet up to 8 hours at a time.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.Travel throughout Milwaukee County by vehicle. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an office environment and community. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
