Electrostatic Painter

Overview

Responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint using electrostatic painting equipment on metal structures installed in company projects, including stairs, balconies, trellises, louvers, and other metal components. The work is performed primarily on job sites and in open-air environments, ensuring high-quality finishes, protection of adjacent surfaces, and cleanliness of the work area.

Responsibilities

• Inspect surfaces to be painted and identify cleaning, degreasing, sanding, and surface preparation requirements prior to painting.
• Properly protect floors, walls, glass, and surrounding elements through masking, covering, and surface protection methods.
• Verify environmental conditions in the work area, including wind, humidity, and dust, implementing necessary protective measures and reporting conditions that may affect work quality.
• Prepare paint materials and application equipment, properly adjusting operating parameters to achieve uniform coverage.
• Apply electrostatic paint, ensuring consistent coverage on surfaces, edges, corners, joints, and hard-to-reach areas.
• Inspect completed work and correct defects such as runs, paint buildup, missed areas, or uneven texture.
• Remove paint overspray or accidental paint deposits using methods that do not damage affected surfaces, and report any damage requiring additional repair.
• Remove protective coverings and perform general cleanup of the work area, disposing of waste in accordance with established procedures.
• Properly use, care for, and maintain assigned equipment and tools, including electrostatic spray guns, conventional spray guns, sanders, and related accessories.
• Perform cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment after each use, store tools properly, and report any damage or malfunctions.
• Comply with all safety regulations, project procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with industrial painting techniques such as powder coating, conventional spraying, or auto painting is preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate fabrication tools, hand tools, power tools, and coating spray guns effectively.
• Familiarity with materials handling procedures and the use of precision measuring instruments for quality control purposes.
• Ability to interpret production documents accurately and follow detailed instructions precisely.
• Basic math skills for measuring coatings and calculating coverage areas.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to support efficient workflow processes.
• Valid forklift certification is a plus for handling heavy materials safely within the production environment.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
