Role Description This full-time, on-site Fleet Mechanic role is based in Pensacola, FL and supports the maintenance and reliability of ECUA’s fleet and heavy equipment. The Fleet Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, and repairs a variety of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, utility vehicles, and specialized sanitation or construction units. Daily tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and completing maintenance records and work orders accurately. The role involves using diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and service manuals to identify needed repairs and ensure equipment meets safety and regulatory standards. The Fleet Mechanic collaborates with supervisors and operations staff to prioritize repairs, minimize downtime, and maintain a safe, organized shop and yard environment.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, and Maintenance & Repair of vehicles and equipment.
Fleet Mechanic I
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance of light, medium and heavy duty trucks. Additional vocational/technical training or ASE certification is desirable.
- Experience working with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles is a plus.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Class "A or B" Commercial Driver's license within 1 year of employment.
Fleet Mechanic II
- Three (3) years of experience in performing repair and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks. Additional vocational/technical training or ASE certification is desirable.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Class "A or B" Commercial Driver's license within 1 year of employment.
- Possession or attainment of a Hazardous Materials Endorsement is desirable
- Possession of ASE Certificate is desirable.
