Mortgage Servicing Specialist

As a Mortgage Servicing Specialist at Embers, you'll be responsible for performing mortgage loan support services including assisting members with questions, processing payments and adjustments, disbursing insurance funds, and completing basic accounting and clerical duties. You'll also be responsible for tracking and obtaining proof of insurance as required on member loans, maintaining departmental records and files, typing routine reports and records, and assisting or referring members as necessary. 



RESPONSIBILITIES WE’LL TRUST YOU WITH:

Assumes responsibility for effectively and efficiently performing mortgage loan support activities. 

  • Answers member questions regarding mortgage loans, payments, balances, and insurance requirements. 
  • Processes payments from tellers including loan payoffs and adjustments. 
  • Processes mail payments. 
  • Completes investor reporting requirements. 
  • Records account data and disbursement of funds to investors.
  • Receives Hazard Insurance declarations and premium bills. Sets up new files and disburses insurance premiums as scheduled.


Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional business relationships with members. 

  • Resolves (or refers) requests and problems promptly and courteously. 
  • Keeps members properly informed of Credit Union policies and procedures. 
  • Maintains and conveys the Credit Union's professional reputation. 


Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and with management. 

  • Assists and supports area and all Credit Union personnel as needed. 
  • Completes reports and records promptly and accurately. 
  • Maintains departmental files. 
  • Attends meetings as required. 
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. 


Assumes responsibility for other related duties as required or assigned. 

  • Performs miscellaneous clerical and secretarial functions as needed. 
  • Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.


SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE: 

  • Mortgage loan support functions are completed accurately and timely. 
  • Insurance premiums are correctly recorded and disbursed. 
  • Files are correct and up to date. 
  • Good business relations exist with members. Problems and questions are courteously and promptly resolved or referred. 
  • Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and with management. Assistance and support are provided as needed. Management is properly informed. 
  • The Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.

AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:

Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent.


Required Knowledge:

  • General understanding of mortgage loans, including conventional loans. 
  • Knowledge of related requirements, procedures, and underwriting criteria.
  • Basic Understanding of accounting.



Experience Required:

  • Two years of varied office experience.



Skills/Abilities: 

  • Good verbal and public relations skills. 
  • Strong typing abilities. 
  • Good basic math skills. 
  • Well organized. 
  • This position requires a high level of attention to detail, as the impact of errors can be significant. 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Professional appearance, dress, and attitude 



























PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION: 

Talking: Frequent communication required, especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. 

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Average Visual Abilities: Ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
