Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will help support the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is passionate about numbers, possesses strong organizational skills, and has experience working with various accounting software systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including data entry, journal entries, and maintaining the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions by verifying invoices, issuing payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
- Prepare financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to support management decision-making.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant accounting standards while ensuring all financial records are organized and audit-ready.
- Assist in budgeting processes by analyzing account activity and preparing relevant documentation for financial planning purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with a strong understanding of accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries.
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks (especially QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or comparable systems; familiarity with Quicken is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of corporate accounting practices as well as non-profit accounting procedures if applicable.
- Experience with account reconciliation processes such as bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
- Strong spreadsheet skills using Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and report writing.
- Ability to handle payroll processing accurately while adhering to legal requirements.
- Knowledge of financial concepts including account analysis, budgeting, and financial report writing.
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
